Contra: Rogue Corps announced for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC

Due out on September 24.

Konami has announced Contra: Rogue Corps, a twin-stick, third-person action shooter in its Contra series due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on September 24 in the Americas and Asia, and September 26 in Europe and Japan for $39.99.

Here is an overview of the game, via Konami:

About

Contra: Rogue Corps is a twin stick, third-person action game drawing upon its roots in fast and focused combat developed for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). From the director of Contra III: The Alien Wars and Contra: Hard Corps, Nobuya Nakazato instills more than 25 years of franchise pedigree into Contra: Rogue Corps with enormous crazed enemies, over-the-top violence, and a cast of diverse playable characters that add to the irreverent tone of the game.

Several years after the events of the Alien Wars, Contra: Rogue Corps follows a former military group living on the fringes as bounty hunters and treasure finders in the Damned City. Survival requires fast reactions, powerful weapons and the occasional organ and cybernetic augmentation. Players will complete missions in PVE campaigns, gathering resources to upgrade their guns to stay alive in the Damned City. If all else fails… bring in a friend online and mow-down enemies together in online multiplayer mode!

Key Features

  • Action shooter with fast-paced, run and gun style gameplay.
  • Choose from four diverse characters with their own unique skills and specialty attacks – determine weapons load out, customize and craft unique weapons and create a perfect symphony of destruction throughout the Damned City.
  • Operation Room – Upgrade characters and abilities, augmenting each with improved organs and cybernetics.
  • PVE – Deep single player Story campaign mode chock-full of challenging missions among hordes of enemies. Go solo or group with up to 4 friends or random players online* in multi-player.
  • PVP – Create custom matches (private mode) for one-versus-one, two-versus-two, three-versus-three, four-versus-four, or one-versus-four players*.
  • Local Couch Co-Op modes with up to four players on all platforms**

*Online Multiplayer requires subscription to Xbox Live Gold, PlayStation Plus, or Nintendo Switch Online.

**Switch players can play local wireless multiplayer. Each player is required to have a system and game.

Playable Characters

The four playable characters form the Rogue Corps—-an eccentric and unique cast of “heroes” based out of the Damned City as some of the only humans and creatures either immune to or just crazy enough to resist the city’s madding effects:

  • Kaiser – A soldier from the Alien Wars rebuilt after receiving massive injuries, now has a massive arm that transforms into a drill.
  • Ms Harakiri – Famed assassin specializing in stealth and infiltration, after barely escaping death during the Alien Wars, she fused together with an alien, now taking residence in her midsection.
  • Hungry Beast – Once the noted (human) scientist Kurt Steiner, he had his brain inserted into a giant cyborg panda and now spends most of his time looking for delicious snacks.
  • Gentleman – Brain Bug alien raised by humans. Feels the rest of the team are ill-mannered and vulgar, especially the Panda. Argues over table manners and the neatest and most efficient way to dispatch an enemy.

Game Modes

  • Campaign Mode
    • Playable in Single Player or Online Multiplayer, up to four players (Nintendo Switch users can play in local wireless mode, with each player having their own console and copy of the game).
    • The campaign includes six major Mission Zones with multiple levels within each zone.
    • Base Camp includes several locations to customize gameplay, including the Workshop (weapons), the Surgery Room (character upgrades), Profile (cosmetic items) and more.
  • Couch Co-Op (up to four players)
    • Specially created game mode for local Co-Op players including smart, adaptive AI “Director” with tweaks to enemy waves, boss battles and treasure rooms – more info at a later date.
  • Online PVP
    • More information to be shared at a later date

Gear and Loot

  • Gear and loot is a big part of Contra: Rogue Corps and is earned in-game with zero microtransactions.
    • Get items from enemies, after clearing a mission depending on your score, from the Black Market with in-game currency, and from salvaging parts and research.
  • Weapons can then be developed by gathering parts and materials to combine them together into new main and sub weapons – with randomly generated stats assigned, alongside special abilities.
  • Characters can be similarly upgraded by collecting organs and cybernetic body parts in-game and then investing in varying quality doctors from the Surgery Room at Base Camp

Square Enix has announced Trials of Mana, a remake of Seiken Densetsu 3 for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC. It will launch in early 2020.
Here is an overview of the game, via Square Enix:
About
Trials of Mana is a full high definition remake of the third entry in the Mana series, previously exclusively released in Japan in 1995 as Seiken Densetsu 3. Trials of Mana tells the story of six heroes as they battle against the monsters of destruction that threaten a world where Mana has been weakened. Players can customize their own party of three, selected from six unique characters, to experience different stories.
Story
When the world was shrouded in darkness, the Goddess of Mana drew forth the Sword of Mana to smite the eight Benevodons, monsters of destruction.
She sealed the horrors inside the eight Mana Stones, bringing the realm back from the brink.
Weakened from rebuilding the world, the Goddess changed herself into a tree and fell into a deep sleep for many years.
However, the forces of evil soon sought to free the Benevodons to gain control of the world.
They started a terrible war to further their plot and destabilize the kingdoms.
Peace was at an end. Mana itself began to disappear from the world and the Mana Tree started to wither…

information on the newly announced Trials of Mana, a remake of the game released in Japan in 1995 as Seiken Densetsu 3, has come out of a developer interview with Famitsu at E3 2019.
Here are the notable tidbits:
The project began moving around two years ago.
Unlike Secret of Mana, the reason we are making a significantly bolder remake with this game is because this title was never released overseas, so we hope to introduce it as a completely new title.
Trials of Mana is one of the conclusions we arrived at through trial and error while listening to the feedback from [the remake of] Secret of Mana. Early in development, we created a prototype that was even closer to the original game, but as a remake after 25 years we were not satisfied with that.
The original concept of the Mana series was something along the lines of, “seamlessly play the Final Fantasy series’ ATB battle system.” We called what we ended up with “motion battle,” we weren’t saying it was an action RPG at that time.
In Secret of Mana, you were able to fight while changing weapons, but since your weapons were fixed in Trials of Mana, we heard from users that was no good, so with the remake we wanted to fix that.
Elements such as combos and jump attacks have been implemented in the remake. It’s being made so you can really enjoy the action parts.
While this is probably the most action-heavy game in the series, it is an action RPG through and through, so you enjoy the game even if you’re not good at it so long as you level up.
Since action performance differs based on the character, your experience with the game will change based on who you’re playing as.
There is no multiplayer.
Event scenes are pretty much fully voiced. 30-plus characters all have proper voices.
The voice cast will be announced at a later date, but we can say with 100 percent certainty that the voice cast won’t damage the characters’ images.
There is a lot that we still can’t say, so fans and non-fans alike please look forward to hearing more.

RPG Site has posted three minutes of Grandia HD Collection gameplay from E3 2019 alongside a new set of screenshots.
The outlet also spoke to GungHo Online Entertainment America director of game publishing Takeshi Minagawa, who offered the following tidbits of information:
Grandia HD Collection will be available “very soon,” but Minagawa would not provide a release date or more specific window.
When asked if there are plans for a physical release, Minagawa said, “Not at all.” It will be a digital-only release.
When asked if GungHo Online Entertainment would consider releasing a PlayStation 4 version, Minagawa said, “We’ll think about it, but we felt the Switch was the console platform best suited for JRPGs, and we are first focused on release for Nintendo Switch and PC.”
The code for Grandia is based on the original PlayStation version.
The ports are being handled by Sickhead Games.
GungHo Online Entertainment touched up as many art assets as possible. Most of the user interface received a complete overhaul, aside from a few menu digits that could not be replaced. There is no option to use the original sprites.
In the E3 2019 show floor demo of Grandia HD Collection, the battle ability voices were in English despite selecting Japanese voice-overs.
The audio quality will remain the same as the original PlayStation version, and no additional elements are being added to Grandia.
Asked about a potential Grandia III remaster, Minagawa said, “I cannot say. The history with Grandia III is so complicated—who distributed it, who published it, who actually has the rights. If you really want to ask that question, you’d have to go ask [original developer] Game Arts first.”
Grandia HD Collection will be released for Switch, and Grandia HD Remaster will be released for PC. Grandia II HD Remaster is already available for PC. Read more about the collection here.

Parece bem legal.
